2007 Grant Highlights Gannett Foundation’s mission is to support the future of our communities and the future of our industry. In 2007, grants and matching gifts totaled $10.3 million. • Most of our grants go to grass-roots community programs, educational efforts and projects supporting young people and families. • In the United Kingdom, nearly $1 million was given to community organizations working to benefit disadvantaged youth, seniors and the disabled. • GannettMatch, our employee matching gift program, matched more than 5,600 gifts totaling more than $1.8 million. • Journalism training and education programs are a key part of our grantmaking. Projects funded ranged from journalism workshops for high school minority students to diversity and leadership training for journalists. All media-related funding focuses on diversity and promotion of the First Amendment. |
